GARDEN SUITES ARE NOW LEGAL IN TORONTO!

On February 2nd, 2022 Toronto City Council expanded permissions to allow residents to build Garden suites on residential properties in the city. A Garden suite is a housing unit, located in the backyard of an existing house, but separate and detached from the main house.

Laneway Suites are Legal 

in Toronto

Ammendment #1210-2019 paved the way for laneway suites throughout Toronto and they are a great way to create homes for family members – parents, grandparents or adult children – or can be used for rental housing.
